2088“Two years ago my mother’s doctor telephoned me. My mum had Alzheimer’s, my dad had vascular dementia. I had gone against my family’s wishes and brought social services in because they were living in a dangerous situation. It was something I had to do. I was very distraught about it. My mother’s doctor rang me and said this to me.

“It’s been a great comfort because things have gone completely awful – both mum and dad died within a month of each other and two sisters and one brother no longer talk to me. But I have to cling on to what I was told.”
