2087“I was about 17 years old, I was working in a summer camp in Western Mass," Amanda says in her audio clip "I was a kinda quiet, kinda shy, nerdy teenager. I had a rough summer, bullied a little bit by some of those I was working with.

"One night I was chatting with one of my colleagues called Elaine, who was a few years older than I was. She was encouraging me and telling me I could handle it.

"At the end of the summer we were signing cards for each other and Elaine wrote this in my card. It really meant a lot to me because it told me I could do it, I could handle it. It was great advice and it really meant a lot." Taken in Reading, Massachusetts, USA.
