2335“My Poppy was one of those inspirational people who was so generous and loving and whose smile could light up a room,” Michelle wrote.

”He passed away quite suddenly and our family was completely devastated - we were all in shock and just cried and cried and cried for days. About a week later we were sitting silently around the table at his wake having cried so hard that we were completely out of tears and my Nanny suddenly just burst out laughing.

”As she got up from the table she said ‘now that’s enough of that – a day without laughter is a day wasted.” At first I thought she’d lost her mind but then the entire table just erupted in fits of laughter.

”It was probably the most inappropriate timing but I’ll never forget those words – sometimes we get so caught up in life that we forget to enjoy it.”
