2053This is the photographer David Dunnico, whose work includes a fascinating project involving urban trees. Of his SOTM he said: “I was sat at home with my partner, Sarah. We’ve got a little upstairs living room. I was sat nearer the door than Sarah was. She suddenly turned and looked right past me and said this.

”She wasn’t scared, she had a smile on her face. I went cold when she said it, it really sent a shiver up me spine. She told me that ‘a middle-aged man, as clear as you’re sat there, walked up the stairs, across the landing and into the study’.

”She added that she thought it might be the previous owner. Our house is a hundred years old but we’re only the third people ever to live there, so we know the names of everyone who’s ever lived in the house. I asked if it scared her and she said no, that she was quite happy there was someone else in the house.”
