2012This is the excellent actor and director Dexter Fletcher. Well-known to many for his roles in Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels and also as the uber-cool Spike in Press Gang, a role which perhaps inspired many teenagers back in the late Eighties and Nineties to become journalists.

More recently, he was nominated for a Bafta in 2013 for directing and co-writing the film Wild Bill.

A very friendly chap, he agreed to take part in SOTM while at the opening night of the PokerStars room at the Hippodrome Casino in Leicester Square, London, UK, a plush new gaming space right at the top of that famous building.

Of his SOTM, he explains in his audio clip that: “When I was 19 years old I’d just bought a flat and I was sitting, looking out the window because I had nothing to do, because I was 19 and I was a bored and boring youth.

”A builder walked past from the building site next door, and he looked up at me and said ‘The one above sees all’. And what I really liked about that phrase was because I was sitting up high, on the third floor, I could see all over London, I had a really good flat up in Muswell Hill – I just thought it was a very poignant and clever thing to say.

”Not that I’m a religious man, but that seemed like a smart thing to say. So whenever I can, I always get up high.”
